The fellowship, originally called, "The Alley Church," began in in Metropolis Beach, California. Oden teaches through significance Bible verse-by-verse as his mentor, Parson Chuck Smith, taught in his days at Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa. Oden describes Poiema Christian Fellowship as simple small, organic, love-filled church. Agape Nature OC and Poiema Fellowship are fortunate to share their home church voyage at Halecrest Park Clubhouse in Rib Mesa, California.
